Account Features

Bandwidth / Transfer / Hits
Any outbound traffic from your web site is considered data transfer. FTP uploads do not count as data transfer. Each time a html file, graphic file or any other element on your web page is loaded, data transfer is generated.

Disk Storage
Disk storage refers to the amount of server disk storage your account is allocated. This space is used to store your html files, graphics, audio/video files and all other files that make up your web site. Your POP3 emails are not stored in this space. You are allotted an extra 10 MB of space for your mail spool per POP3 account. Should you require additional space for your content you will need to upgrade your account with the Storage Space Upgrade or upgrade to the next level package.

Static IP Address
Every hosting account is configured with a static IP address. This means that you are given a unique set of numbers (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) specifically assigned to your web space. This allows you to access your web site via a web browser or development tool regardless of the status of your domain name. Having your own IP address also gives you the opportunity of publishing your web site to your new web space before actually transferring your domain name to our DNS. This results in no down time when transferring your web site from a another hosting company.

Email Features

Email Accounts
Each of our Windows Hosting Packages comes with a specific number of POP3 email accounts in addition to email forwards and aliases. You have the option to retrieve email directly from POP3 mailboxes on the mail server using an email program such as Eudora, Outlook or Outlook Express.

Email Autoresponders
An autoresponder is a pre-determined message with information you want automatically sent to anyone who emails a designated email address/mailbox at your domain.

IMAIL 8.xx
IMail is the industry leader in Windows-based mail systems allowing for easy web-based administration of your POP3 accounts. In addition, each user can change individual passwords, finger plans, and vacation messages via the Web. This allows you to setup forwarding, auto-responders, and other important e-mail options at any time.

Mail Lists
You can create multiple mail lists based on your customer's interests. You provide customers an email address they can send an email to and be added to your personalized mailing list. As soon as customers sign on they are sent a friendly welcome message. This is a great way to cost effectively communicate with your customers through monthly newsletters, sales updates or just a friendly hello. Each list can hold 1000 names and a 75kb message can be emailed to all the lists you create.

ASPQMail
AspQMail works just like AspMail except that messages are queued up for delivery using the AspMail component. A companion Windows 2003 service is notified when messages are added to the queue and attempts delivery while your ASP script is freed from the delay of delivering the message.

Microsoft SQL Server

Microsoft Access / FoxPro
Microsoft Access comes bundled in Microsoft Office enabling you to connect your database on your PC to update and manage your production database on our servers. Powerful and fully compatible with ASP scripting, this feature is available on Windows 2003 virtual servers only. FoxPro is a popular database that can be deployed on any Windows 2003 server for high-end database functionality.

OLEDB
OLE DB (Object Linking and Embedding), a Microsoft technology, is a system-level programming interface that provides a standard set of interfaces for exposing database management system functionality.

MDAC 2.8
With MDAC, you can access and use data from various relational and non-relational data sources. The MDAC component includes ActiveX Data Objects, OLE database, and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC). You can connect to databases through providers and drivers that are either built and shipped by Microsoft, or with those developed by third parties.

ODBC.NET
The ODBC.NET Data Provider is a native component to the .NET Framework version 1.1. This component provides access to native ODBC drivers in the same way that the OLE DB .NET Data Provider provides access to native OLE DB providers. The ODBC.NET Data Provider is intended to work with all compliant ODBC drivers but only the following drivers have been tested with the ODBC.NET Data Provider: Microsoft SQL ODBC Driver, Microsoft ODBC Driver for Oracle, Microsoft Jet ODBC Driver.

Remote SQL Database Management via SQL Clients
You can connect to the MS SQL 2000 database using SQL clients, such as Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer.

FrontPage 2002
The Microsoft FrontPage 2002 web site creation and management tool gives users everything you need to easily create and manage great web sites. You are required to own and install the FrontPage 98 or 2000 software and on your home system.

FrontPage 2002 Subwebs
You are given administrator permissions to your web site allowing you to create and delete sub-webs on your own. (ie: www.domain.com/company1) Each sub-web can have its own home page. This is very useful if you would like to organize your web site into different sections or you would like to have multiple web sites within your main site. There is no limit to how many sub-webs you can have as long as you stay within your designated hosting plan's storage and bandwidth guidelines.

Miva Empresa
Enables your server with XML based Miva Script, commerce processing and database. Miva Script applications running under Miva Empresa execute in a sandboxed data and runtime environment. Special virtual domain and shared server features let busy site administrators create per user and per domain runtime environments.

Data Source Names (DSN)
We setup an ODBC System DSN (data source name) which points to a Microsoft Access database file within your site. The database file is placed in a data directory outside of the content directory for security purposes.

Custom MIME Types
Adds the ability for serving multiple content types such as midi files, special audio formats and others.

MS Index Server
Microsoft Index Server is a full-text indexing and search engine for Internet Information Server. It allows any Web browser to search documents for key words, phrases, or properties.

Active Server Pages
ASP (Active Server Pages) is enabled on all of our shared Windows 2003 web servers. ASP can be used to create, complex, consumer oriented web applications such as shopping carts and personnel oriented databases. This is usually accomplished in conjunction with MS Access and MS SQL Server.

In XML you can define an unlimited set of tags. While HTML tags can be used to display a word in bold or italic, XML provides a framework for tagging structured data. XML support, JScript
XML is subset of the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) defined in ISO standard 8879:1986 that is designed to make it easy to interchange structured documents over the Internet. XML files always clearly mark where the start and end of each of the logical parts (called elements) of an interchanged document occurs. XML restricts the use of SGML constructs to ensure that fall back options are available when access to certain components of the document is not currently possible over the Internet. It also defines how Internet Uniform Resource Locators can be used to identify component parts of XML data streams.

CGI-Bin / Perl
Directory setup with special permissions to auto-execute user-defined scripts. CGI is used to accomplish tasks which are not supported by basic HTML such as a hit counter or guest book. You may use this directory to execute any cgi-script you write or ones that are already pre-written for you. Perl for Win32 is ActivePerl's port of most of the functionality found in Perl, with the addition of extra Win32 API specific calls that allow you to take advantage of Windows specific functionality.

Small, platform independent server-side programs that programmatically extend the functionality of the web server.

Web Services Supported (.asmx)
Web services allow you to adapt the Web programming model for use in applications that are not browser-based. That is, it provides a platform for building distributed applications using different software running on different operating systems and devices, written using different programming languages and tools from multiple vendors, all potentially developed and deployed independently.

WSDL
Web Services Description Language (WSDL) is an XML format for describing network services to facilitate communication between applications. In general, WSDL defines an XML grammar describing network services as collections of communication endpoints capable of exchanging messages. The WSDL service definitions provide the neccessary documentation for distributed systems and serves as a recipe for automating the details involved in applications communication.

SOAP
Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) is a protocol used for the exchange of information in a decentralized and distributed environment. It is an XML-based protocol consisting of three parts: an envelope defining a framework for describing what is in a message and how to process it, a set of encoding rules for expressing instances of application-defined datatypes, and a convention for representing remote procedure calls and responses.

.NET dll
Unlike classic ASP where you intermingle ASP code with HTML, in ASP.NET, you can separate the presentation layer of a web page (the stuff that is seen by the user) from the functional logic (the dynamic portion). Code-behind files are pre-compiled modules written in any of the Microsoft .NET runtime compliant languages, such as Visual Basic.NET or C#. We provide each account with a /bin folder which can house your compiled .NET dlls.

By placing a file in your main directory called missing.html, you will be able to provide a customized page to any viewer that requests a file with their browser that does not exist on your domain.

Daily Backups
We do daily backups of your sites data and your email spool file. In the event you lose or corrupt any of your data you may request a restore from our technical support department.

Raw Access Logs
These are the text logs showing every hit to your site and what the user downloaded, accessed or viewed. For statistical analysis you can download these to compile on your local machine in programs like MediaHouse LiveStats or other site analysis programs.

LiveStats Site Statistics
All Windows-based shared hosting accounts come with LiveStats with Referrer Logs. LiveStats will analyze the log file of a web server and will create a comprehensive summary report from the information gathered.
